Promoting Influx and Activity of Young Creators Based on Changdong Music Creation Infrastructure
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has released a compilation album titled ‘fresh as...’ that aims to bring a fresh breeze to the music industry.
This is the result of a song camp project collaboratively conducted by Dobong-gu’s youth music creation support platform ‘Open Changdong (hereafter ‘OPCD’)’ and domestic music companies ‘Music&New’ and ‘Mirrorball Music’.
The album consists of seven tracks created by talented indie artists collaborating, hoping to revitalize the music industry that has been stagnant due to COVID-19. Host artist Nahzam Sue was responsible for mixing and mastering all tracks, adding diversity to the album.
The participating artists have aligned the direction of their work through repeated team collaboration sessions (song camp) and group seminars starting from March 25. Emerging artists such as Han Jeong-in, MLI, NEON, and ZWOO took part in this project, expected to inspire many independent creators aiming to enter the music industry.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “As the album’s theme suggests, I hope this project has provided new refreshment and inspiration to young musicians,” and added, “Dobong-gu and OPCD will take the lead in creating an environment for exchange and collaboration so that young music creators can continue their creative activities.”
OPCD, which organized this project, is a Dobong-gu youth music creation support platform that promotes the influx of young creators into Changdong by implementing various projects such as sample packs, song camps, and music festivals to narrow the gap between professional artists, emerging artists, and industry stakeholders.
Music&New, which collaborated with OPCD, is a record distribution and production company that has led the success of K-content worldwide by distributing 140,000 songs including popular drama OSTs such as ‘Dr. Cha Jung-sook’ and ‘Descendants of the Sun.’ Mirrorball Music, a subsidiary of Music&New, is the largest indie music distributor in Korea discovering talented indie musicians.
