Kim Oksu, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced on the 25th that she was selected for an excellent ordinance in the legislative activities category at the ‘2023 Local Legislative Awards’ ceremony held recently at the Seoul Global Center International Conference Hall.
Sponsored by the Korea Council of Local Assembly Chairs and hosted by the Legal Journal, this Local Legislative Awards evaluates legislative activities that have contributed to the development of local autonomy and the improvement of the quality of life of local residents. It was promoted to realize the ‘working local politician’ and enhance the trust of local residents.
Councilor Kim said, “Being selected for an excellent ordinance at this Local Legislative Awards is an encouragement to carry out legislative activities that meet the wishes of local residents,” adding, “In the future, through the enactment and revision of ordinances for citizen-experienced legislation and institutional improvement, I will become a councilor who is essential for improving the quality of life of residents.”
Councilor Kim’s ‘Seo-gu Ordinance on the Audit of Apartment Management Operations’ was revised in February for the first time nationwide by a basic council to supplement institutional unfairness and loopholes, such as the inability to audit public housing rental management agents under the current ordinance, which prevented public housing tenants from requesting audits even when accounting irregularities occurred.
The ordinance was positively evaluated for including public housing rental management agents as audit targets and explicitly protecting the rights of socially vulnerable public housing tenants.
