On the 73rd Anniversary of the 6·25 War, Ruling Party Says "Former Regime's Fake Peace Show Threatens Security... Must Maintain Strong Posture"

North Korea Still Denies Responsibility... Criticism Targeting Opposition Forces

The People Power Party emphasized on the 25th, the 73rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, the need to maintain a strong security posture against threats such as North Korea's nuclear weapons while commemorating the war heroes. They also criticized those who still deny North Korea and the Soviet Union's responsibility for provocations, stating that peace was threatened by the previous Moon Jae-in administration's 'fake peace show.'

Kim Gi-hyeon, leader of the People Power Party, stated this on Facebook that day. He said, "Although it is very clear that North Korea and the Soviet Union were the heinous provocateurs of the Korean War, there are still immature forces who deny the undeniable fact that North Korea and the Soviet Union bear responsibility for the provocations," adding, "Because these forces once held power in South Korea and consistently pursued a subordinate and humiliating policy toward North Korea, focusing solely on a 'fake peace show,' the permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula was also threatened."

Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader of the same party, wrote on Facebook, "Now, as geopolitical conflicts around the Korean Peninsula intensify, peace is only possible when we have a strong national power that no one can underestimate," emphasizing, "We must never neglect efforts to strengthen ourselves economically and militarily."

Leader Kim and Floor Leader Yoon both attended the 73rd anniversary event of the Korean War held at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul that morning.

Kang Min-guk, senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, said in a statement, "We pay tribute and condolences to the war heroes who gave their lives for the country and to the veterans of the 22 UN countries who fought together to protect liberal democracy," adding, "In a situation where peace on the Korean Peninsula is once again threatened by North Korea's continuous provocations, we humbly recall that only strong national defense and a firm security posture can protect the nation."
