Emart first increased the supply of 'Taibek plums' from 200 tons last year to 300 tons this year, adding about 100 tons. Taibek is a reflective film installed under fruit trees that evenly distributes sunlight to the trees while suppressing moisture absorption, known to enhance the natural sweetness of the fruit. With a long rainy season expected, Emart explained that the advantages of the Taibek farming method are expected to shine even more. Even during prolonged rain, Taibek prevents water from pooling, making it easier to maintain sweetness.
Emart also doubled the supply of 'Sinbi peaches' compared to last year. Sinbi peaches are a new variety that combines the distinct advantages of nectarines and white peaches. Sinbi peaches are an early-ripening variety among peaches, and since they are usually harvested and stored starting in June before the rainy season, Emart explained that customers can enjoy Sinbi peaches with high sweetness even during the rainy season.
Emart added that the supply of 'Green Hwangdo peaches' has also increased by about 30% compared to last year. Green Hwangdo peaches are also an early-ripening variety planned and cultivated to allow tasting Hwangdo peaches, which were previously only available in August, as early as June. Although their size is about half that of Hwangdo peaches, they retain the rich flavor of Hwangdo. They are especially juicy to the point that napkins are needed when eating, and are said to have a strong natural peach aroma and taste.
Kim Won-kyung, Emart’s fruit buyer, said, "With a long rainy season expected this year, we have significantly expanded the supply of Taibek plums and early-ripening summer fruits to provide customers with tastier fruits." He added, "Emart will continue to offer fruits with high sweetness so that customers can always trust and choose us."
