The police have been conducting a special weekly drunk driving crackdown since April 14 to prevent fatal accidents caused by drunk driving in the province. By the end of last month, 35 drivers had their licenses revoked or suspended. Additionally, they plan to conduct surprise drunk driving crackdowns in front of 280 elementary schools across the province at least once a week until the end of the year.

Meanwhile, in April, at 2 p.m. in a child protection zone in Daejeon, a tragic accident occurred where a drunk driving vehicle crashed onto the sidewalk and hit four children. A 9-year-old girl lost her life 11 hours after the accident.

The police stated, “We will prevent fatal drunk driving accidents through comprehensive crackdowns regardless of day or night and active publicity, and especially strengthen drunk driving enforcement activities in preparation for the summer vacation season.”
