Wanju-gun "Come to 'Dongsang Unjangsan Valley' for Summer Vacation"

The 1st Dongsang Valley Water Sound Festival to be held from July 7 to 9

This summer, Dongsang Unjangsan Valley located in Dongsang-myeon, Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, is emerging as a popular vacation spot.

On the 23rd, Dongsang-myeon, Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Kyung-ah) announced that the residents-led ‘The 1st Dongsang Valley Water Sound Festival’ will be held for three days from July 7 to 9 to revitalize the valley.

Dongsang Unjangsan Valley is a precious natural spectacle in the Jeonbuk region, attracting many vacationers nationwide every summer. However, as the number of tourists has recently declined, residents planned the Water Sound Festival to restore the valley’s reputation as a vacation destination.

The festival venue will feature various water play equipment such as water slides, pools for toddlers, water balloon games, and small fountains. Diverse side events including face painting, nail art, and performances will also be held.

Additionally, various convenience facilities and food booths will be set up, and numerous water safety personnel will be deployed to prevent accidents.

Meanwhile, Dongsang Unjangsan Valley is located at the easternmost part of Wanju-gun and is a summer hiking destination where beautiful valleys and refreshing waterfalls harmonize. The long and deep valley evokes the image of a watercolor painting. Especially, the valley scenery around Geomtae Village is splendid, making it an ideal place to escape the summer heat.

Yu Kyung-tae, the chairman of the Dongsang Valley Water Sound Festival Promotion Committee, said, "We will make efforts to widely promote the charm of Dongsang Valley and revitalize tourism through this festival," adding, "We plan to hold various festivals and events combining the region’s beautiful nature and art in the future."
