On the 22nd, Yeongyang County in Gyeongbuk conducted a promotional campaign for attracting a pumped-storage power plant at the intersection in front of the Daegu District Court Yeongyang Registry Office, with the participation of about 100 members of the Yeongyang Volunteer Fire Brigade.
On this day, the promotion for attracting the pumped-storage power plant was led by Eom Jugi, president of the Yeongyang Male Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, and Kim Hwasun, president of the Female Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, along with about 100 volunteer fire brigade chiefs and members from towns and townships, all united in chanting “Pumped-storage power plant attraction, Yeongyang is the best,” expressing their earnest desire to bring the pumped-storage power plant to Yeongyang.
The Yeongyang Volunteer Fire Brigade, who have always put aside their livelihoods to offer help first whenever various fires and social disasters occur, actively participated in the promotional activities to attract the Yeongyang pumped-storage power plant, which is expected to revitalize Yeongyang County facing the risk of regional extinction due to population decline, demonstrating their strong will to attract the power plant.
The pumped-storage power plant project involves a national government investment of 2 trillion won in construction costs and is expected to contribute to the local economy by generating 1.4 billion won annually in local taxes, making it an unprecedented opportunity for all residents to revive Yeongyang County, which is facing the risk of regional extinction.
County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “I am very grateful to the volunteer fire brigade members who have been generously serving at disaster sites such as various fires in Yeongyang County for also supporting the promotional activities to attract the Yeongyang pumped-storage power plant. Let us definitely attract the Yeongyang pumped-storage power plant, which is the wish of all our residents.”
