Guro-gu Operates AI Convergence Academy Linked to Employment and Startups with Soongsil University

Basic and Advanced Courses Offered in AI Mathematics Fundamentals, Artificial Intelligence Theory, Deep Learning, and More

Free Tuition and Textbooks, Internship Opportunities Provided

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) will operate the employment and entrepreneurship-linked ‘AI Convergence Academy’ from July to November as part of the Regional Intelligent Innovation Talent Development Project.

The Regional Intelligent Innovation Talent Development Project is a joint initiative by Guro-gu and Soongsil University aimed at developing innovative technologies, nurturing customized talent, and strengthening corporate competitiveness. It was selected last year in a Ministry of Science and ICT public contest, with a total of 15 billion KRW in national funding and 1.5 billion KRW from the district allocated over 7 years and 6 months.

The AI Convergence Academy, starting in July, features a faculty primarily composed of university professors and is structured into three phases: a 4-week basic course, an 8-week advanced course, and a 6 to 8-week corporate project course. In the basic and advanced phases, common subjects are mandatory, while elective courses such as AI applications, web development, and game convergence are designed to align with students’ career paths.

Notably, in the third phase, practical projects are selected based on corporate demands, and students gain hands-on experience through mentorship from field experts, ensuring the education leads directly to employment or entrepreneurship.

Classes are held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 11th floor lecture room of Daeryung Technotown 22nd Building (146, Gasan Digital 1-ro), with no tuition or textbook fees charged to students.

The program targets 25 to 30 AI convergence job seekers aged 19 to 39 residing in Seoul, with priority given to Guro-gu residents and those majoring in IT-related fields.

A Guro-gu official stated, “This education is field-oriented and extends to corporate internships,” adding, “We ask for the keen interest of young people seeking employment in related fields and companies willing to operate internships.”
