As Part of the February SM 3.0 Growth Strategy Announcement
Defamation Reports Will Be Reviewed by Relevant Departments Before Legal Action
Boards for Illegal Tickets and Copyright Infringement Established
SM has created a site that serves as a kind of public grievance office to strengthen the protection of artists' rights. On the 21st, SM announced, "We have established the Kwangya 119 site (https://kwangya119.smtown.com), a reporting center." This is part of the artist protection enhancement included in the 'SM 3.0' growth strategy announced by SM last February.
The main screen of the Kwangya 119 site is largely composed of ▲Artist (ARTIST) Defamation Report ▲Illegal Ticket/Copyright Infringement Report ▲Correction Report & Suggestions ▲Service Inquiry Board. The reported cases can be viewed at a glance in real-time timeline format.
First, in the Artist Defamation Report board, users can report not only false information and defamatory posts but also fake news. Anyone who is a member of the SMTOWN website can use this service. After writing the subject and brief title of the report, users must link the URL or IP address of the related post or attach images and other files. SM’s related departments will verify the legality based on the submitted materials and plan to take legal action such as filing complaints or lawsuits. To this end, SM signed a business agreement with the law firm Sejong in March.
The Illegal Ticket/Copyright Infringement Report board was established to prevent illegal ticket transactions and strengthen copyright protection, thereby building a transparent and fair fandom culture. SM is currently in close consultation with event organizers and ticketing agencies to prevent illegal ticket sales, and plans to open this board as soon as the consultations are completed.
Additionally, copyright infringement reports can be submitted on this board regarding unauthorized distribution of music, videos, and other content related to SM artists online. The Correction Report & Suggestions board was created to actively receive reports from fans when errors occur in artists’ albums, merchandise, images, or videos. Fans can also leave their wishes and ideas for the artists and SM. Through the operation of the Kwangya 119 site, SM plans to not only protect the rights and interests of its artists but also strengthen communication with fans.
