The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 21st that an Angel Investment Hub for the Southeast region, including Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, will be established in Gyeongnam to revitalize angel investment outside the metropolitan area.
The regional Angel Investment Hub is a local base that utilizes infrastructure and capabilities from both the private and public sectors to alleviate the concentration of angel investment in the metropolitan area and to create a regional early-stage investment ecosystem.
Since 2021, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups has been building and operating regional Angel Investment Hubs in two non-metropolitan wide areas (Chungcheong and Honam regions). The Southeast region Angel Investment Hub will be the third hub established. It is planned to be set up within the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center located in Changwon City, Gyeongnam.
Gyeongnam received excellent evaluations due to its efforts to foster key industries such as aerospace, shipbuilding, and machinery, and to promote technology startups centered around institutions like the Creative Economy Innovation Center and Technopark, as well as its operation of mentoring and support programs linked to local mid-sized companies.
