On the 20th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the results of the 2022 management performance evaluation for 38 public institutions and organizations under the ministry.
The Arts Council, which was converted from a quasi-governmental institution to another public institution in 2019 to enhance independence and autonomy as an arts support organization, has received an A grade for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022.
Through this evaluation, the Arts Council was recognized for achievements such as ▲ continuous improvement of the public contest system to increase transparency and convenience in subsidy execution ▲ expansion of mid- to long-term creative support to guarantee a stable creative environment for artists ▲ support for art-technology convergence creation to pioneer new art fields.
Building on this, the Arts Council plans to strengthen its cultural enjoyment program policies for all citizens, including the full issuance of the Culture Nuri Card, which provides an annual voucher of 110,000 KRW per person to economically marginalized groups, and the expansion of beneficiaries for the traveling cultural arts project "Exciting Art Trip" targeting geographically marginalized groups.
Jeong Byeong-guk, Chairman of the Arts Council, said, "The excellent grade in the management performance evaluation recognizes the series of efforts made by the Arts Council and provides confidence in the direction of the institution's business operations. Taking this year’s 50th anniversary of the institution as a turning point, we will review past achievements and shortcomings and, based on this, seek and promote better directions for arts and the public."
