Korean eco-friendly startups conducted investment attraction activities related to carbon neutrality in China.
On the 20th, the Global Innovation Center (KIC China) announced that it held the 'Korean Innovative Companies K-Demo Day Carbon Neutrality Theme Roadshow' at the Kempinski Hotel in Beijing, together with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and Zhongguancun International Incubator in China.

About 150 attendees, including government officials from China's National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Commerce, experts in the field of carbon neutrality in China, investment institutions, and industrial complex representatives, showed interest at the roadshow. Numerous local investment institutions such as China Sinopec Investment Fund, Korea Investment Partners (KIP), Qing Ventures, Two Stars, ASICVC, Highlight Capital, and Asia Green Fund were also present. Korean innovative companies in the carbon neutrality sector, including Technobio, Digi (DG) World, ODIN Energy, SNT, Jain Chemical, DeepVisions, TSP Biochem, and Saehan Uni, participated and attracted attention.
Lee Jin-su, the Political Officer at the Korean Embassy in China who attended the event, said in his congratulatory speech, "The discourse on humanity's climate change crisis and carbon neutrality is something everyone here can tangibly feel," adding, "It is an urgent and critical task given to us to drastically reduce our current dependence on fossil fuels and transition to eco-friendly energy." He continued, "The past three years of the COVID-19 pandemic have been an unprecedentedly difficult period for business operators," and expressed concern that "globally, inflation is intensifying, and the low-interest-rate environment that had lasted for several years is collapsing, so the amount of investment and the atmosphere toward startups and the innovation ecosystem are not what they used to be." He further stated, "I hope that today's event will discover such gem-like companies, lead to successful investment outcomes, and ultimately help them grow into successful enterprises."
Kim Jong-moon, Director of KIC China, explained, "Through this program, excellent Korean companies related to carbon neutrality can understand the overall industrial status of China regarding market entry and gain accurate directions and roadmaps for entering China through exchanges with relevant experts," adding, "We will continuously support Korean companies' cooperation with China by establishing participation and cooperative relationships with outstanding Chinese energy and carbon neutrality investment companies, including Sinopec."
Deng Yanlong, CEO of Zhongguancun International Incubator, stated, "We aim to promote the development of green low-carbon industries by building an effective exchange and connection platform between Korean eco-friendly innovative companies and Chinese investment institutions. Furthermore, we seek to facilitate matching between Korean science and technology companies and Chinese industry and investment sectors to assist the settlement and development of Korea's innovative companies within China."
