On the 22nd, the Asan Social Welfare Foundation announced on the 21st that it will hold an academic symposium on the theme of 'Youth Housing and Social Welfare' at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall, inviting scholars and related experts.
At this symposium, under the theme 'Crisis of Future Society, Youth and Social Welfare,' three outstanding researchers selected from last year's Asan Foundation academic research support project will present their research results on youth housing and social welfare.
Professor Kim Mi-young of the Department of Sociology at Hallym University will present on the topic 'Where Do They Gather to Live? Spatial Concentration and Composition Changes of Young Poor Households in the Metropolitan Area,' discussing the spatiotemporal distribution of young poor households in the metropolitan area and the socioeconomic characteristics of youth living in poverty-concentrated areas.
Professor Park Jong-hoon of the Department of Economics at Hanbat National University will present on 'Is Youth Housing Well? Single-Person Youth Households and Newlyweds,' analyzing housing occupancy types and residential satisfaction of single-person youth households and newlywed couples to discuss housing stability.
Professor Kim Yoon-min of the Department of Social Welfare at Changwon National University will present a study titled 'Research on Poor Housing Conditions and Youth Life: Focusing on the Experiences of Youth Living in Jihok-go (basement rooms, rooftop rooms, and goshiwon),' addressing the 'current' poor housing conditions experienced by youth and the impact of these conditions on their 'future.'
After the presentations, Professors Jeong So-yeon of the Department of Social Welfare at Seoul Women's University, Nam Ki-chul of the Department of Social Welfare at Dongduk Women's University, Kim Seok-ho of the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University, and Jeon Hee-jung of the Department of Public Administration at Sungkyunkwan University will participate as discussants to engage in discussions with the presenters. The chairperson will be Professor Park Jeong-su of the Department of Public Administration at Ewha Womans University.
Marking its 46th anniversary this year, the Asan Foundation has been holding an academic symposium annually since 1979 to promote social development and welfare enhancement.
