Cryptographic Module Validation Online and Offline Training
Recruiting Trainees Until July 5 (Wed)
The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA, President Lee Won-tae), together with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intelligence Service, announced that it will conduct the "2023 Cryptographic Module Validation Specialized Training Basic Course" for five days from the 17th to the 21st of next month. Cryptographic module validation is a system that verifies the safety and implementation compliance of cryptographic modules used to protect important information not classified as secret by national and public institutions.

KISA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT, is promoting support projects such as education and consulting to revitalize cryptographic technology and industry. The specialized cryptographic module training was first launched in 2020. Over the past three years, it has produced more than 1,300 trainees. According to a survey of trainees, the training was evaluated as helpful in improving understanding and practical application in work.
This year, the training will be offered twice, from a theory-centered basic course to an advanced course for cryptographic module implementation. The basic course will be held in July, and the advanced course in the second half of the year will be conducted online and offline for five days each in November. The basic course covers topics such as ▲basic cryptographic mathematics ▲structures of cryptographic algorithms subject to validation, including block ciphers and hash functions ▲cryptographic module validation systems and test methodologies ▲cryptographic module validation testing and interpretation of validation standards.
Anyone interested in cryptographic technology and module development, including information security and cryptographic product development companies and university (graduate) students, can apply. The application period can be checked through the announcements on the Cryptography Utilization Activation website from the 21st of this month to the 5th of next month. Park Hee-woon, head of KISA’s Security Technology Division, said, “As the importance of cryptographic technology increases, we hope this training course will lower the entry barriers to the cryptographic industry,” adding, “KISA will continue to expand support by providing cryptographic module validation services and practical specialized training courses to ensure prompt cryptographic module validation.”
