Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it will expand its Galaxy self-repair program to nine European countries following the United States and South Korea.
Samsung Electronics first introduced the program in the United States in August last year and launched the service domestically last month.
Consumers in nine European countries including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, and Poland will be able to purchase necessary parts and repair tools from local Samsung Electronics stores or specialized repair companies' online sites to repair their Galaxy products themselves.
The smartphones supported for self-repair are the same as those in South Korea, including the Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 series, with three parts eligible for self-repair: display, rear cover, and charging port.
Similar to South Korea, the Galaxy Book Pro 39.6cm (15.6-inch) series laptops will also be available for self-repair. A total of seven parts, including the touchpad and fingerprint recognition power button, are eligible. The seven laptop parts include the display, battery, touchpad, fingerprint power button, front case, rear case, and rubber feet. However, self-repair for the Galaxy Book Pro series is supported only in four countries where the product has been released: Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Italy.
