Cafe Startup Academy ‘Songpa-gu Chamsari Startup Experience Center’ Renovated
Providing Startup Experience for Graduates of Chamsari Practice Center…49 out of 120 Started Businesses Successfully over 11 Years
Teams of Four Experience Store Operations for Four Months…Training from Customer Service to Marketing Strategies
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) has renovated the ‘Songpa-gu Chamsari Startup Experience Center,’ a coffee shop startup experience space.
The ‘Songpa-gu Chamsari Startup Center’ (246 Munjeong-ro) is a space created to allow graduates of the Chamsari Practice Center barista course, an educational facility for residents with career interruptions, to gain startup experience.
Since its launch in 2012, it has provided a one-stop program from practical training to startup practice, contributing to an increased startup rate. Among the 120 prospective entrepreneurs who have passed through here, 49 have successfully started their own businesses.
Accordingly, the district partnered with the social enterprise ‘Uri Dongne Lounge’ to enhance the professionalism of the Chamsari Startup Experience Center, renovated the space, and officially opened it on May 22 to begin operations.
‘Uri Dongne Lounge’ imparts specialized store operation knowledge to residents preparing for startups, including ▲customer service necessary for startups ▲methods of providing services ▲market analysis ▲marketing strategies. Through this, it aims to revitalize startups among residents and establish a virtuous cycle of local job creation.
Participants experience the overall process of store operations in teams of four over four months. Starting two weeks before the startup, they undergo an internship process to learn how to respond to various issues that may arise in the field.
The first participant after the renovation shared, “At first, I was scared and overwhelmed to sell coffee I made myself to customers, but through the practical experience at the Chamsari Startup Experience Center, I gained confidence and now customer service feels natural.”
The district also plans to enhance resident convenience by providing various beverages at affordable prices and offering a comfortable resting space through the Chamsari Startup Experience Center.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I hope many residents will realize their dreams of starting a business through the Chamsari Startup Experience Center,” and added, “We will continue to promote various job creation projects that residents can feel and actively participate in, creating a vibrant Songpa.”
