Jeong Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang-gun, inspected the main facilities and operational preparations on the 19th ahead of the reopening of Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park.
Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park is a complex sports facility with a building area of 11,567㎡ spanning from basement level 1 to the 2nd floor above ground. It features the largest indoor swimming pool in the country with 27 lanes, as well as indoor sports facilities such as fitness, yoga, and Pilates.
It officially opened on June 16 last year, but operations were suspended on August 28, just over two months after opening, due to a machine room flooding accident. It is scheduled to reopen on July 1.

During the suspension period, the county conducted a thorough investigation of the cause of the accident, restored the flooded equipment, and reinforced the facilities to prevent recurrence. Accordingly, trial operations of exercise facilities such as the swimming pool and gym began on the 20th, with reopening planned for July 1.
On this day, Mayor Jeong focused on convenient and safe use for residents, inspecting the restoration and reinforcement status of major facilities and the operational readiness, and especially ordered thorough safety management for the swimming pool, which is the largest in the country.
Jeong Jong-bok, mayor of Gijang-gun, said, “Residents have experienced great disappointment and inconvenience due to the suspension of facility operations. As it reopens after 10 months, we will ensure safer and more substantial operations so that Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park can become a source of pride for the residents.”
Details regarding the recruitment of new members for the July regular programs and operations at Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park can be found on the Gijang-gun Urban Management Corporation website starting from the 22nd.
