Over 150 Experts and Local Governments Attend
Exploring New Travel Demand Creation through Pet Tourism
The Korea Tourism Organization is hosting the '2023 Pet Tourism Forum' to promote travel with pets.
The organization announced on the 20th that the forum will be held on the 23rd at the Multipurpose Hall of the S-Plex Center in Seoul, where domestic and international pet tourism trends and best practices will be shared. The forum aims to explore innovative measures to create new travel demand. About 150 officials from local government tourism departments, regional tourism organizations, and regional cultural tourism foundations will attend.
In the first session, Professor Yoon Yoo-sik from Kyung Hee University's Smart Tourism Center will deliver a keynote speech titled "New Tourism Demand, Pet Tourism."
Following this, domestic case studies will be presented, including ▲ Kim Mi-kyung, Tourism Policy Team Leader of Ulsan City, on "Ulsan Pet-Friendly Tourism Project" ▲ Cho Sang-ho, Director of Tourism Promotion Division of Taean County, on "Taean Pet-Friendly Tourism Project" ▲ Lee Tae-gyu, CEO of PetsGo (a pet tourism specialized travel agency), on "Development and Marketing of Pet Tourism Package Products" ▲ Kim Eun-yul, CEO of Donghae Hyung, on "Development and Marketing of Pet Food Tourism Souvenirs" ▲ Park Sun-yong, CEO of Bandi Village, on "Development and Marketing of Pet-Only Accommodations."
In the second session, presentations will include ▲ Kim Mi-sung, Academic Research Professor at Kyung Hee University's Tourism Industry Research Institute, on "Pet Tourism Trends Seen Through Overseas Cases" ▲ Writer Lee Soo-kyung on "Europe, Traveling with Dogs" ▲ Yoon Sung-eun, Executive Director of External Cooperation at Royal Canin Korea, on "Pet-Friendly City Projects and Social Contribution Activities" ▲ Katsuhiko Shoji, Chairman of the Japan Pet Tourism Liaison Council, on "Current Status and Future Issues of Pet Tourism in Japan."
Prior to the forum, the Korea Tourism Organization will also sign two business agreements with Ulsan Metropolitan City and Ulsan Cultural Tourism Foundation, as well as Chungcheongnam-do Province, Taean County, and Chungnam Cultural Tourism Foundation to facilitate the smooth promotion of pet-friendly tourism cities.
Kim Seok, Director of Regional Content at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "We will strive to create new tourism demand for pet tourism through organic collaboration with local governments and experts, ultimately leading to the revitalization of the regional economy."
