Korean Society of Structural Diagnosis and Maintenance Engineering Reports No Safety Issues in All Apartment Buildings
Kim Gil-seong, Jung-gu Mayor, “We Will Communicate Closely with Residents and Experts to Alleviate Residents' Concerns and Ensure Thorough Monitoring and Inspection of Future Progress”
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) announced on March 20 that the detailed safety inspection results for Seoul Station Central Xi, where a wall damage accident occurred, confirmed the building is “safe.”
On the 19th at 7:30 PM, the district held a resident briefing at the Jungnim-dong Community Center auditorium to thoroughly inform residents about the measures taken so far, the detailed safety inspection results, and future plans.
Previously, at the resident safety field countermeasure meeting on March 28, the district promised a “detailed safety inspection for all buildings in the apartment complex.” Subsequently, the Korean Society of Structural Diagnosis and Maintenance Engineering, selected by the residents’ representative meeting, conducted a detailed safety inspection from March 28 to June 16 on all 14 buildings and the underground parking lot of the apartment complex, carefully analyzing structural safety and the cause of the wall damage.
Residents asked questions regarding the inspection results and compensation for damages, and answers were provided accordingly.
Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, stated, “Jung-gu has closely consulted with residents, related organizations, and experts to ensure that residents’ opinions and demands are reflected in the scope and implementation methods of the detailed safety inspection. We will also conduct thorough monitoring and inspection of the implementation status going forward and strive until residents’ concerns are completely resolved.”
