Sponsored by Yeonggwang-gun, Yeonggwang Saemaeul Geumgo (designated donor by Jeonnam Community Chest), Saesaengmyeong Church, and Hanuri Disability Welfare Association, about 27 participants including local people with disabilities and volunteers took part in this trip, which started on the morning of the 13th with a sponsorship fund delivery ceremony and send-off at Yeonggwang Saemaeul Geumgo, then departed for Gwangju Airport.
Through cultural experiences outside the local area, participants felt relief from daily fatigue, and the excitement and thrill among the people with disabilities were evident; their excited expressions the moment they boarded the airplane brought smiles.
The Jeju travel cultural experience included Thema Park, a cruise, Camellia Hill, Sky Water Circus, activity kart experience, and Songaksan Mountain. Over the three days, the itinerary was leisurely and well-organized so that the people with disabilities could tour the attractions without getting tired and enjoy healing, increasing joy and satisfaction for all participants.
At Thema Park, participants were captivated watching the performance where they became one with the horses right before their eyes, and during the cruise, they enjoyed the refreshing sea breeze.
On the last day, Mr. Baek, a person with a disability, said, “It was my first time flying on an airplane, and it was so good and happy,” adding, “I definitely want to come again.”
Ms. Hong, who participated as a volunteer, said, “Thanks to my daughter with a disability, I was pampered for the first time. The Jeju itinerary satisfied both food and sightseeing, and seeing the people with disabilities happily enjoying themselves throughout the trip made it a better time for me.”
Namgung Kyungmun, head of the Yeonggwang branch, said, “We deeply thank Yeonggwang-gun, Yeonggwang Saemaeul Geumgo, and Saesaengmyeong Church for gifting a wonderful trip to the people with disabilities, and we hope to continue the event in the future to share happiness and precious memories with more local people with disabilities.”
