Installation of Doorbells with Flashing Lights Underway for 120 Hearing-Impaired Households
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, and the Disabled Persons Subcommittee of the Yeongdeok-gun Community Security Council (Chairman Shin Kyung-su) are promoting a project to install doorbell lights in 120 households of hearing-impaired residents in the area.
The doorbell light is a device that notifies visitors with a light when the doorbell is pressed. Installation is being carried out throughout June in each eup and myeon for 120 registered hearing-impaired households that requested the installation.
For this doorbell light installation project, members of the Disabled Persons Subcommittee of the Yeongdeok-gun Community Security Council and participants in the Senior Job Project visit each household to install the devices and provide instructions on how to use them.
Um Jae-hee, Director of Family Support Division, said, “Since the doorbell light installation project has been well received for alleviating daily inconveniences and enhancing safety for hearing-impaired individuals, we plan to continue the project by accepting additional applications until the end of the year.” He added, “We will strive to implement effective welfare measures to create a community where people with disabilities can live together.”
