The head of a violent gang in Incheon has been brought to trial while in custody on charges of severely assaulting an employee at a Baduk academy.
On the 19th, the Violent Crime Investigation Division of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Yeonsil) announced that they had indicted A (60), the boss of the Bupyeong Market faction, on charges of assault.
Earlier, A was prosecuted for severely beating B, an employee in his 50s, at a Baduk academy in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, on January 18.
At the time, when A said, "I have been to prison before," other customers felt uncomfortable, and B told him to "stop talking." Afterwards, B was struck by A's fists and feet, suffering broken ribs and serious injuries, and was diagnosed with a six-week recovery period at the hospital.
A had served as the deputy head of the Bupyeong Market faction, which was formed in 1984, and was incarcerated for a long period starting in 1998. It is understood that he has been the head of the Bupyeong Market faction since 2003.
The police judged that A had a history of violent crimes and that B was seriously injured, so they arrested A on the 6th and transferred him to the prosecution.
A prosecutor stated, "We will continue to respond strictly to violent crimes committed by organized crime offenders."
