On the 19th, CJ Freshway announced that it signed a joint business agreement at the Mungyeong City joint farming complex in Gyeongbuk Province, attended by about 250 people including Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, 23 mayors and county heads from the province, and leaders of agricultural organizations. This agreement was planned to promote the success of the Agricultural Great Transformation Project, one of Gyeongbuk Province's core projects, through comprehensive support for rural economic activities such as agricultural production, distribution, and sales.
CJ Freshway will take the lead in expanding sales channels for local agricultural products to ensure the successful implementation of the project. They plan to expand contract farming purchases so that high-quality seasonal agricultural products produced in each region can be supplied at reasonable prices, and provide extensive sales channels connected to food service and catering ingredient distribution clients nationwide, along with logistics infrastructure based on an advanced cold chain system. They also plan to cooperate in spreading smart agricultural technology to enhance rural production capacity.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, "We are grateful to have a strong supporter at the time of introducing a new system aimed at evolving the rural economy," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that the Agricultural Great Transformation bears successful fruit for the happiness of the residents."
Previously, CJ Freshway and Gyeongbuk Province signed an agreement in 2019 to expand sales channels for agricultural products. Currently, they continue their cooperative relationship by distributing agricultural, fishery, and livestock products and processed goods from about 220 partner companies located in the province nationwide.
Jung Sung-pil, CEO of CJ Freshway, stated, "In line with the purpose of the Agricultural Great Transformation project, which will create a new paradigm for agriculture, we plan to build an advanced cooperation model that enhances rural production capacity and the competitiveness of local products," and added, "We will establish ourselves as a leading win-win company that takes the lead in collaboration with local communities to realize corporate social value."
