Vessel announced on the 19th that its affiliate, Vessel Aerospace, will participate in the '2023 Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Expo' held for three days starting on the 28th.
In response to the government's participation request, Vessel Aerospace plans to showcase the achievements of its OPPAV (Autonomous Personal Air Vehicle) and electric aircraft R&D projects.
The event is hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement. The company expects this to be an opportunity to emphasize its lightweight manufacturing technology for OPPAV aircraft. It also plans to lay the groundwork for new UAM (Urban Air Mobility) business ventures.
Vessel Aerospace's OPPAV is an autonomous personal air vehicle being developed as a government-certified urban air mobility (UAM) aircraft. It has been progressing as a national project since 2019, powered by distributed electric propulsion with a maximum speed of 240 km/h. Notably, the company plans to exhibit a full-scale model of the KLA-100e (electric aircraft) at the event and offer boarding demonstrations to visitors.
Vessel Aerospace is an aircraft parts manufacturer separated and established from the KOSDAQ-listed company Vessel in 2019. It successfully developed the KLA-100, Korea's first two-seat lightweight manned aircraft. In addition to UAM aircraft, the company is building an internationally compliant aviation safety certification system, including autonomous flight operation systems for unmanned aerial vehicles and hydrogen fuel propulsion systems for small aircraft.
A company representative stated, “We will widely promote our technological capabilities not only to institutions and companies but also to the general public,” adding, “We will establish closer cooperation with government and R&D-related organizations and contribute to the rapid commercialization of UAM.”
