Passed away at the age of 37
Internet broadcaster and former racing model Imbly (37, real name Im Ji-hye), who attempted an extreme act during an online live broadcast, passed away on the 19th at the age of 37.
On the same day, a post was uploaded on Imbly's social media (SNS) stating, "We inform you of the passing of the late Im Ji-hye. Please understand that due to the overwhelming situation, we are unable to contact everyone individually."
On the 11th, Imbly attempted an extreme act after writing a will during a live broadcast at her home. The 119 rescue team was dispatched to the scene and transported her to the hospital, but she ultimately did not recover.
The drinking broadcast with internet broadcasters from the Bucheon area, which took place just before the incident, is considered a key background to the extreme act.
This broadcast, known as the so-called "Bucheon Hell Party," was conducted in a way that induced provocative competition among BJs to draw support from viewers. There was a major dispute between Imbly and other internet broadcasters during this event.
During the broadcast, when another internet broadcaster harshly criticized Imbly for her usual behavior, Imbly grabbed the person's hair and threw a glass of water at their face, resorting to violence. The fight escalated to the point where the police were called.
During this process, Imbly reported another participant who was mediating the fight for sexual harassment. Later, Imbly withdrew the report and conducted a live broadcast to explain the situation after returning home.
In the broadcast, she mentioned a specific BJ's name and claimed that she had not received her income settlement. During a phone call with her father, she was seen crying out, "It's hard. I'm going to die. Watch whether I die or not."
She then revealed a handwritten will and disappeared off-camera. The will contained the message, "My beloved daughters, I am sorry for being a shameful mother. It is not your fault, so I hope you do not feel guilty. Even if you cannot see me, I promise to always be by your side." About 20 minutes later, 119 paramedics arrived, and the broadcast ended. The video has since been deleted.
Imbly was selected as a Maxim photo model in 2006 and worked as a racing model. After getting married in 2014, she stopped modeling but later raised her two daughters while conducting personal broadcasts on AfreecaTV and YouTube.
