Songpa-gu Conducts Survey on Lectures Young People Want to Hear… Reflects Needs to Open Special Lectures
‘Alone but Happy! Hoho!’ for Single-Person Youth Households… 16 Sessions Until October
Sharing Practical Tips on Finance, Home Care, Hobbies, and More for Immediate Application
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is operating a customized education program focused on major interests of young people such as finance and hobbies until October this year.
This program, titled the special lecture series ‘Alone but Happy! Hoho!’ for single-person youth households, emphasizes selecting topics that help young people lead vibrant lives supported by the local community.
To this end, the district surveyed visitors aged 19 to 39 at the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center for one month starting January 25, asking which courses they wished to see offered. The results showed common interests among youth were finance (50%), home care such as interior design (25%), and hobbies like crafts and cooking (17%), in that order.
Reflecting these demands, the district organized special lectures to be held free of charge from June 22 to October 12. Sessions take place every Thursday from 3 PM for two hours at the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center.
In the finance category, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) will deliver up-to-date financial trend information and practical investment strategies aligned with those trends.
For home care, the program teaches small home repair techniques and smart organizing and storage tips that single-person youth households can immediately apply. In the hobby category, activities such as making personalized perfume and discovering one’s personal color will be offered.
Additionally, the district plans to provide a ‘Mind Care’ session with professional counselors to support psychological health through mental care for young people.
The special lectures are open to any single-person youth household resident of Songpa-gu aged 19 to 39. Each lecture has a capacity of 20 participants, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis until two days before the lecture start date. Detailed schedules can be found on the Songpa-gu Office website or the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center website.
Notably, the district links this program with the existing ‘Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center,’ which focuses on youth job support, to strengthen youth policy efforts. Through these special lectures, the district also aims to support networking among single-person youth households, addressing the growing issue of social isolation among this demographic.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “We will actively connect unemployed young people who attend the lectures with the Job Hub Center’s employment support programs to increase youth employment rates. Going forward, we will continue to listen to young people’s voices and promptly implement policies that meet their needs, creating a Songpa-gu where youth find opportunities and hope.”
