Gwanak-gu Operates Fragrant Forest Walk Program on Gwanaksan Barrier-Free Forest Trail
Forest interpretation, woodworking experience, and sensory experience programs held on barrier-free forest trails in Gwanaksan until October
Free of charge for people with disabilities, families with young children, seniors aged 65 and over, and others
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is operating the Gwanaksan Barrier-Free Forest Trail program for green leisure vulnerable groups who find it difficult to go hiking or take park walks.
The barrier-free forest trail is a deck-type forest path made gently without obstacles such as stairs, designed to be easily accessible for the elderly, people with disabilities, wheelchair users, and stroller users.
Gwanak-gu has established and operates a 750m circular barrier-free forest trail for comfortable walks and a 550m climbing-type barrier-free forest trail where visitors can enjoy views while ascending slopes within Gwanaksan. The Gwanaksan Barrier-Free Forest Trail is highly accessible, located within walking distance straight from the Sillim Line Gwanaksan Station exit.
The district runs the ‘Barrier-Free Fragrant Forest Walk Program’ on the Gwanaksan Barrier-Free Forest Trail until October, targeting walking-vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, and families with young children to enjoy the mountain and participate in various experiences.
The program includes three activities: ▲“Ttubok Ttubok Forest Walk,” where participants walk the forest trail while listening to forest interpretation and relaxing in the forest ▲“Ttukttak Ttukttak Woodworking Play,” a string art experience using wood ▲“Awakening Myself Forest Journey,” where participants meditate in the forest and drink flower tea.
Especially for working parents with children, the district operates the program on weekends and also offers it near the entrance of Gwanaksan for those who find long walks difficult.
Reservations can be made on the Seoul Public Reservation Service website, and the program is completely free of charge.
An official from the district stated, “We will continue to operate various programs that allow everyone, including green leisure vulnerable groups, men and women of all ages, to feel and heal through the nature of Gwanak.”
