Held in Jeju from the 12th to 15th next month
Over 600 Entrepreneurs to Participate
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will hold the Jeju Forum for four days from the 12th to the 15th of next month at the Jeju Haevichi Hotel & Resort. The Jeju Forum, hosted annually by KCCI since 1974, is the largest summer forum in the economic sector and this year marks its 46th edition.
At this forum, prominent figures from various fields, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho, Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon, Minister of Environment Han Hwa-jin, Bank of Korea Governor Lee Chang-yong, KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung, Professor Kim Sung-hoon of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor Kim Tae-yoo, Emeritus Professor at Seoul National University, and Chairman Kim Chang-soo of F&F, are scheduled to take the stage.
Presenting Solutions for Overcoming the Crisis and Economic Rebound of the Republic of Korea
On the first day of the forum, the 12th, Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho will deliver a keynote speech diagnosing the severe economic situation amid global economic contraction and the prolonged Ukraine crisis, and will share the government’s policy directions to find new growth paths for the Korean economy.
On the second day, the 13th, Minister of Environment Han Hwa-jin will introduce the government’s environmental policy directions for the era of carbon reduction, aimed at harmonious development between environment and economy for Korean companies that must transition to a low-carbon economy amid the global climate crisis.
On the third day, the 14th, Bank of Korea Governor Lee Chang-yong will give a lecture titled “Global Economic Trends and Corporate Responses,” analyzing the essence of the global economic situation and providing insights for the Korean economy’s rebound in this era of great change.
On the final day, the 15th, Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon will deliver a lecture titled “Legal Administration Driving Economic Growth and the Role of Corporations.” He is expected to introduce government policies and strategies for establishing a corporate environment aligned with global standards.
Lectures for the Future Vision of Our Companies in an Era of Economic and Industrial Transformation
Two leading scholars will give lectures on artificial intelligence (AI), a topic attracting global attention, on the second day of the forum, the 13th. First, KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung will analyze the massive trend of AI under the theme “Humanism 2.0 in the AI Era” and share insights on turning AI from a crisis into an opportunity.
Following him, AI expert and venture entrepreneur Professor Kim Sung-hoon of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (CEO of Upstage) will introduce the impact of AI on our society, including the emergence of Chat GPT, directions for technological innovation, and business strategies.
On the third day, the 14th, a “Management Talk Show” will capture attention. Professor Song Jae-yong of Seoul National University will moderate, with panelists including KCCI Chairman Chey Tae-won, AI semiconductor expert Park Sung-hyun, CEO of Rebellion, and corporate culture expert Kim Young-hoon, CEO of University Tomorrow. The talk show, themed “The Future Vision of Our Companies,” will diagnose paradigm shifts in this era of great transformation and engage in in-depth discussions on corporate response strategies, organizational culture, and leadership.
Additionally, Professor Kim Tae-yoo, Emeritus Professor at Seoul National University, who gained great acclaim for his book Time of Korea, will emphasize that “The era of Korea as a hegemonic power is coming,” and will discuss Korea’s strategies to become a winner amid the global economic power shift.
Also, Kim Chang-soo, Chairman of F&F, regarded as the “Midas touch” of the fashion industry, will share his corporate management story of leading the global market with a “new system through digital technology,” having grasped the era’s changes faster than anyone else.
Beach Plogging and Mind-Body Recharge Programs Also Prepared
On the afternoon of the 12th, a “Beach Plogging” event will be held in collaboration with the KCCI New Entrepreneurship Council (ERT). This activity, taking place at Pyoseon Beach, will involve member companies of the Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as forum participants.
Meanwhile, film music and classical melodies will resonate with commentary by conductor Seo Hee-tae, who was the real-life model for a popular drama, and the summer nights of Jeju will be filled with romance and memories through a concert by legendary ballad singer Byun Jin-sub.
A KCCI official explained, “With the COVID-19 situation calming down, about 600 businesspeople from across the country are expected to attend this year’s Jeju Forum. Top experts from various fields will take the stage to help our businesspeople find solutions in corporate management amid rapidly changing domestic and international economic environments.”
