June 30 - July 1, Held at Seocheon Riverside
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the "Gwangyang Embracing the Sun! The 3rd Gwangyang Wellness Farm Festival" over two days on June 30 and July 1 along the Seocheon Riverside in Gwangyang-eup.
The festival will operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the opening ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m. on June 30.
The Gwangyang Wellness Farm Festival was launched after Gwangyang City was selected in January for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ "Rural Convergence Regional Network Establishment Support Project." The festival aims to provide opportunities to experience rural culture and to build an organic production and consumption trend by connecting producers and consumers of local agricultural specialties.
The festival is organized by the Gwangyang Rural Convergence Industry Network Establishment Project Group (hereafter "Project Group"), which includes five companies: Gwangyang Bread, Sammuruji Sprout Ginseng, Lavender & Yoon & Phil, Haenuri, and Neowasong.
This year’s festival features experiences related to rural culture, a direct sales market for local agricultural specialties, and various events.
Experience programs include not only rural culture but also making everyday items and woodworking activities closely related to daily life.
Additionally, the direct sales market will showcase Gwangyang’s local agricultural specialties centered on the 6th industry (agriculture + manufacturing + tourism).
Other events include nostalgic treasure hunts, the Gwangyang Love O/X quiz, drawing contests, and cultural performances by local artists.
Im Okcheon, head of the Project Group and representative of Gwangyang Bread, said, “For the Gwangyang Wellness Farm Festival, which is resuming after four years, we have prepared a variety of programs and abundant prizes made up of local agricultural specialties for citizens to see, experience, and enjoy. We hope many citizens will visit.”
Kim Sanggyun, director of the Agricultural Products Marketing Division, stated, “We have prepared a place where consumers can meet producers directly with our city’s excellent local agricultural specialties. Since the products do not go through complicated distribution processes, it will be a great opportunity to view and purchase high-quality agricultural specialties at affordable prices.”
The Gwangyang Wellness Farm Festival was not held from 2020 to 2022 due to COVID-19 but is being held again this year.
Starting with this festival, which is being held again after four years, Gwangyang City plans to hold the festival annually to establish a distribution system that directly connects consumers and producers.
