Dropped Out of University and Started a Business... "You Must Practice and Take Action"
A female entrepreneur in her 20s in the United States revealed that she earned 3.8 billion KRW in income within six months, drawing attention to her secret to success.
Recently, the New York Post and other U.S. media introduced Inaya McMillan (21), a female entrepreneur who dropped out of college and earned over 3 billion KRW in about six months.
Earlier, in January, McMillan posted a video on her YouTube channel titled "How a 20-year-old female entrepreneur earned about 3.8 billion KRW in six months," which became a hot topic. The video reached 910,000 views in about five months.
McMillan, who revealed that she dropped out of college, said, "I started reading books and watching YouTube videos to become a successful entrepreneur," adding, "I also learned through mistakes what works and what doesn't."
According to the media, McMillan previously had experience in e-commerce, consignment sales business, stock trading, and later learned how to make profits through rental business, currently operating 11 Airbnbs. McMillan also verified earning $60,000 (about 77 million KRW) in one month from Airbnb.
In the video, she said, "People started to see that a 20-year-old was earning $40,000 to $60,000 a month," and "People asked me if I could tell them how to generate income." McMillan said she is currently running a coaching business where she helps others learn and apply her know-how for a fee.
She cited a positive mindset and putting goals into practice and action as the secrets to earning a large income at a young age. McMillan said, "You can create the life you want," adding, "You need to know what you want and work hard every day. If you do, it will come true."
Travel Spending Surges in May... Domestic Accommodation Demand Rises
Meanwhile, Airbnb, the world's largest accommodation sharing service, grew rapidly during the pandemic, achieving record sales and bookings. Airbnb also announced record-high sales last year.
According to MarketWatch, an investment media outlet, Airbnb's revenue in the fourth quarter of last year was $1.9 billion, a 24% increase from $1.53 billion in the same period the previous year.
In South Korea, the accommodation industry is also enjoying a boom. According to the ABC (Analysis by BCiF) Report No. 5 issued by BC Card, major industry sales increased slightly by 0.8% compared to the previous month.
Among them, sales related to travel, including accommodation and transportation, increased significantly. Sales in the accommodation sector, including hotels and condos, and transportation sectors such as airlines, railroads, and rental cars increased by 15% and 13%, respectively, compared to the previous month. Compared to the same month last year, accommodation sales rose by 1.8%, and transportation sales by 14.7%. This is believed to be due to the surge in travel-related sales last month caused by the golden holiday and early heatwave.
