Consent from Bereaved Families Following Persuasion by Local Police and Korean Embassy

An autopsy will be conducted on Korean female BJ Ah-Young (real name Byeon Ah-Young, 33), who was found dead in Cambodia.

According to local sources on the 15th, Cambodian police plan to perform an autopsy on BJ Ah-Young's body soon. The autopsy was decided after the bereaved family, who had opposed it, changed their minds.

Local police stated that an autopsy was necessary to determine the cause of death, but the family opposed it, wanting to complete the funeral procedures quickly. However, it is reported that the Korean embassy and local police persuaded the family to change their minds.

BJ Ah-Young was found wrapped in a red cloth in a construction site pond in a village near Kandal Province, close to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, on the 1st.

The police analyzed fingerprints on the cloth surrounding the body and arrested a Chinese couple in their 30s, owners of a hospital, on the 4th. They are known to be operating a medical clinic locally.

The Chinese couple claimed that BJ Ah-Young died after having a seizure while receiving an intravenous drip and serum injection. The prosecution indicted the Chinese couple on the 13th on charges of 'murder combined with torture.'
