Laos is a traditional agricultural country where about 60% of the working-age population is engaged in agriculture. This agreement is expected to contribute to stabilizing the agricultural management environment and resolving difficulties in securing farm labor.
Previously, starting this year, Haman-gun has been attracting seasonal workers by allocating 45 people to 14 farms in the first half of the year and 45 people to 22 farms in the second half through invitations extended to families and relatives of marriage immigrants. As of June, 37 foreign seasonal workers have entered the country, accelerating the resolution of labor shortages during the busy farming season.
A county official stated, “Based on this year’s seasonal worker introduction and operation, we will do our best to ensure smooth farm labor supply and farm management stability next year as well.”
