National Housing Sales Consumer Sentiment Index Rises for 5 Consecutive Months

The nationwide housing sales consumer sentiment index has risen for five consecutive months. Consumer sentiment in Seoul and the metropolitan area has shifted to an 'upward phase' for the first time in 13 months.

According to the 'Real Estate Market Consumer Sentiment Survey' released by the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements on the 15th, the nationwide housing sales market consumer sentiment index in May was 112.0, up 4.3 points from the previous month. This marks a rise for five consecutive months since January this year (91.5). The consumer sentiment index is classified as a downward phase if below 95, a stable phase if between 95 and less than 114, and an upward phase if 115 or above.


Seoul's housing sales sentiment rose from 110.3 in April to 117.3 in May. After falling to 79.1 in November last year, it has increased for six consecutive months since December (82.1), shifting to an 'upward phase.'


The housing sales consumer sentiment index in the metropolitan area also rose from 109.7 in April to 115.1 in May.


In the provinces, Sejong (127.3), Gangwon (117.4), Chungbuk (115.3), and Chungnam (117.5) showed an upward phase.


The nationwide housing jeonse market consumer sentiment index was 91.1, up 2.0 points from the previous month (89.1), continuing the upward trend for five consecutive months.
