Busan University of Foreign Studies Hosts 'UN World Yoga Day Festival'

The India Center at Busan University of Foreign Studies will hold the 'UN International Day of Yoga' event in Busan, designated by the UN, on the 23rd at 5 p.m. at Gwangalli Beach in Busan.


Hosted by the Embassy of India in Korea and the Indian Cultural Centre in Korea, and co-organized by the India Center at Busan University of Foreign Studies, the Korea Yoga Association, and the On Yoga Pilates Association, this event is open to all residents of Busan free of charge.


A representative from the India Center at Busan University of Foreign Studies stated that traditional Indian yoga, including core yoga and Pilates demonstrations, will be showcased to help Busan citizens strengthen their mind and body. Additionally, various yoga-related souvenirs will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis to participants.

The event will also be held in Seoul, Gurye, Jeju, and Gwangju, and the Busan event will be used as an active platform to promote and attract the 2030 Busan World Expo.


The India Center at Busan University of Foreign Studies explained that this event is significant as it marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and India, aiming to expand cooperation between the two countries.


Jang Soon-heung, president of Busan University of Foreign Studies, said, “I hope many Busan citizens will attend various cultural events around the world and enjoy them together,” adding, “Busan University of Foreign Studies will continue to develop diverse cultural events and content that citizens can enjoy together and that contribute to revitalizing local tourism.”


Since its opening in 2021, the India Center at Busan University of Foreign Studies has co-hosted the 'International Day of Yoga' event annually. It also supports Indian cultural activities and educational projects, serving as a bridge for cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.
