Gwangju Gwangsan-gu 'Hometown Love Donation System' Smoothly Attracts Participation Nationwide

Total Number of Donors Surpasses 1,000

The Hometown Love Donation Program in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is making steady progress as active participation continues from all over the country.


According to Gwangsan-gu on the 13th, since the cumulative donation amount reached 100 million won in April, the total number of donors has now exceeded 1,000.

By region, donors with Gwangju as their address accounted for 65% of the total, followed by 14% from the Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas, 11% from the Jeonnam region, and 10% from other areas.


The 1,000th donor to the Gwangsan-gu Hometown Love Donation Program, born on the 12th, is a citizen residing in Seoul. Gwangsan-gu plans to express its gratitude by sending popular thank-you gifts and letters.


By donation amount, donors who contributed 100,000 won accounted for 86% of the total, with an average donation amount of 112,000 won per person.


Gwangsan-gu offers a total of 47 distinctive thank-you gifts, ranging from service items such as auto camping site accommodation vouchers, horseback riding experience tickets, and garden plot leases to agricultural and livestock products, processed foods, and manufactured goods. Among all donors, 64% chose thank-you gifts.


The Hometown Love Donation, which gathers new momentum for the region, is also analyzed to be helping revitalize the local economy.


Having surpassed 100 million won in cumulative donations and 1,000 participants, Gwangsan-gu plans to conduct satisfaction surveys on thank-you gifts and demand surveys for hometown love fund projects to encourage more participation in the program.


Park Byung-gyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, said, “We thank the many donors who have sent their love to Gwangsan-gu,” and added, “We will do our best to prepare ways to use these precious funds for practical regional development and the welfare improvement of residents.”


Meanwhile, Gwangsan-gu continues its appreciation events, drawing 10 donors who contribute 100,000 won or more every month to receive mobile gift certificates worth about 5,000 won. Additionally, every 1,000th donor among 2,000 and 3,000 donors receives thank-you gifts worth 50,000 won, and donors who reach donation milestones of 200 million and 300 million won receive popular thank-you gifts worth 100,000 won.
