Ro&Good Attends Meeting with OpenAI
"Regulation should not be used as a way to reduce innovation while managing risks."
Domestic legal tech company Ro&Good was invited to a meeting with OpenAI to discuss innovation and regulatory issues in the legal field.
According to Ro&Good on the 13th, CEO Min Myung-gi attended the 'K-Startups meet OpenAI' event hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups on the 9th. Min publicly asked, "What are your thoughts on areas with strong regulatory issues and high accuracy requirements, such as law, taxation, and healthcare?"

Greg Brockman, Chairman of OpenAI, responded, "In high-stake fields like law or healthcare, it is important to closely examine the details of how the technology is actually used," adding, "Startups should begin small and experiment while scaling up when developing technology."
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also stated, "Regulation should not be a way to reduce innovation while managing risks," and emphasized, "Regulation should be based on each specific use case of the technology, not on the technology itself."
Meanwhile, disputes between the legal community and the legal tech industry appear to be prolonged. Recently, internal documents revealing that the Korean Bar Association considered criminal charges against legal tech companies including Ro&Good were made public, and it is known that the Bar Association has also considered disciplinary actions against lawyers who joined the platform.
CEO Min said, "The Ro&Good consultation chatbot, which was publicly released limited to the divorce field, was launched in a way that aligns with OpenAI's 'gradual approach,'" adding, "It is regrettable and absurd to learn that the Bar Association decided to pursue criminal charges on the same day."
