Kim Jae-sik, Chairman of the Dong-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 12th that he proposed the 'Gwangju Metropolitan City Dong-gu Fire Damage Resident Support Ordinance' at the 301st 1st regular meeting.
The ordinance targets residents who have suffered fire damage to their homes but fall into a blind spot where they do not receive institutional support or benefits for various reasons. It aims to complement administrative gaps and enable a quick return to daily life by providing support ranging from 1 million to 4 million won depending on whether the house was completely destroyed, half-destroyed, or partially damaged by fire.
Residents of Dong-gu who wish to receive support can submit a fire damage support application and a fire certificate issued by the fire station chief to the district mayor.
Chairman Kim said, "It was heartbreaking to see residents suffering from house fires but unable to receive any help for various reasons," adding, "I hope this will help those affected return to their daily lives."
