DS Division (Semiconductor) Supports Employee Tasks with Customized In-House AI
Samsung Electronics is introducing customized artificial intelligence (AI) services to improve employee work efficiency. Although demand for generative AI like ChatGPT is increasing within the company, concerns about information leakage have led to the development of in-house services.
On the 12th, Samsung Electronics' DS Division (Semiconductor) announced plans to introduce its own large language model (LLM) at the GPT-3.5 level or higher within the year. Kyung Kye-hyun, President of Samsung Electronics DS Division, stated in a recent lecture for employees, "We are promoting the adoption of customized AI through domestic specialized companies."

The Samsung Electronics DS Division plans to launch a basic customized AI service in December, followed by a professional search service including company knowledge in February next year. While employees want to use generative AI like ChatGPT, concerns about information leakage have increased due to internal email contents being uploaded, prompting the division to support work internally.
The customized AI to be introduced by the DS Division will support expert knowledge searches in tasks such as processes, design, and manufacturing. It will assist employees in a total of nine areas including automated responses for purchasing and expenses, translation, document creation, meeting minutes summarization, and market analysis.
Regarding this, President Kyung said in a lecture at Yonsei University on the 9th, "A 6-year engineer took 60 minutes to write code, but ChatGPT writes and verifies code in 10 minutes," adding, "From next year, we plan to enable its use in any way possible."
