Seoul Gangseo-gu 'Visiting Children's Safety Education'

From June to October, targeting 92 locations including daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools

Conducting experiential education on topics such as daily life, traffic, crime, and health safety

Enhancing disaster and emergency response capabilities and raising safety awareness

Gangseo-gu, Seoul, is heading directly to educational sites to ensure the safety of children vulnerable to disasters and emergencies.

The district announced that it will conduct the ‘Visiting Children’s Safety Education’ program to help children improve their ability to respond to various disasters and safety accidents that may occur in daily life.

‘Visiting Children’s Safety Education’ is a program that visits daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools to teach and let children experience how to respond to different types of disasters and safety accidents.

Since May, the district has recruited participating institutions such as schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers, resulting in a total of 92 institutions applying to participate.

The education program started on the 7th at Gonghang Elementary School and will continue until October, targeting a total of about 5,100 children across 51 daycare centers, 30 kindergartens, and 11 elementary schools.

The education content is divided into four categories: ▲daily life safety ▲traffic safety ▲crime safety ▲health safety, providing detailed safety rules and response methods for each type.

In the daily life safety category, fire safety and prevention education for accidents commonly encountered in daily life such as at schools, playgrounds, and elevators are conducted. In the traffic safety category, education on following traffic rules and safely crossing crosswalks is provided.

The crime safety category includes education on kidnapping and school violence prevention, while the health safety category covers CPR and hygiene safety education.

Institutions can select one of the four education types they need, and a specialized instructor in that field will visit directly to provide education tailored to the children’s level.

A district official said, “While adults play an important role in ensuring children grow up healthy in a safe environment, it is above all important for children to develop the ability to protect themselves and respond to accidents. We will do our best to provide meaningful and beneficial education to help the children.”
