Participant Section Wins Grand Prize Two Years in a Row
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that Jo Yujin from Buk-myeon won the grand prize in the soy sauce category at the 5th Korea Fermented Sauce Competition held on the 4th at the Ilsan Lake Park Fountain Plaza.

The Korea Fermented Sauce Competition is hosted by the Korea Fermented Sauce Association, a non-profit organization, and supported by the National Assembly and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Jo Yujin previously won the grand prize at the 2022 competition with her entry “Crab Soy Sauce Marinated Crab,” which combined fermented soy sauce and Uljin snow crab. This year, she entered only the soy sauce category and won the grand prize for the second consecutive year in the same category.
Jo has always been interested in developing dishes using traditional foods and local agricultural specialties. As a member of the Uljin Food Research Association, she has taken the lead in developing and promoting distinctive local cuisine.
Son Byeongbok, the county governor, stated, “We will actively work to preserve and inherit traditional foods in collaboration with local culinary masters and widely promote the unique flavors of our region.”
