Muan-gun 'Value of 1㎥ of Hwangto Mudflat' Hwangto Mudflat Festival Opens

From the 9th to the 11th... Fully Experiencing the Excellence of the Pristine Gaetbeol

Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) successfully opened the 9th Muan Hwangto Mudflat Festival on the 9th at Muan Hwangto Mudflat Land in Haeje-myeon under the theme of "The Value of 1㎥ of Hwangto Mudflat."

According to the county on the 10th, this festival, held face-to-face for the first time in four years since the COVID-19 pandemic, is held annually to reflect on the environmental value of Hwangto rich in germanium and the pristine mudflats, and to widely promote excellent agricultural and marine specialties.

The opening ceremony featured a rich flag parade with about 250 participants from 9 towns and townships as the main event, followed by a theme performance expressing the value of mudflats that protect the earth's environment. The opening performance was held with the participation of many guests, including Kim San, Governor of Muan-gun, Park Moon-jae, Chairman of the Muan Festival Promotion Committee, and Kim Kyung-hyun, Chairman of the Muan County Council, celebrating the successful opening of the festival.

Popular singers such as Kim Jong-kook, Mighty Mouth, Park Sung-yeon, and Hyun Jin-woo performed at the opening celebration concert, and a drone show that brilliantly decorated the summer night delighted visitors' eyes and ears.

During the remaining festival period, various educational and experiential opportunities will be provided, such as the "Hwangto Mudflat Blue Carbon Talk Show," "Muan Hwangto Mudflat Road National Family Love Walking Contest," and the "National Grill Mudflat Drawing Contest," so that visitors can fully experience the excellence of Hwangto and pristine mudflats. Additionally, sensory-stimulating activities such as catching mud crabs, octopus and eel fishing, and harvesting and taking home onions will be operated as agricultural and marine specialty harvesting experience events.

Moreover, the festival will be packed with diverse and unique experiential events where visitors can enjoy healthy foods grown in clean Muan, such as making Yeonjeo meat burgers using onion sauce by Chef Cha Min-wook, making onion kimchi by master Ju Geum-soon, and tasting Korean pork provided by the Muan branch of the Korea Pork Producers Association.

Park Moon-jae, chairman of the Muan Festival Promotion Committee, which organized the festival, said, "This year, to amplify the dynamism and excitement of the summer festival through tourist participation, we planned the Hwangto Water Fight WAR event, consisting of a summer water play sports day and a water party led by a professional dance DJ." He added, "Tourists visiting the festival will be able to fully enjoy the exciting summer festival atmosphere that cools down the early summer heat, different from before."
