Geumcheon-gu Operates ‘Camping With School’ to Foster Close Friendships Among Adolescents
Forming Intimate Peer Relationships Through Community Activities Centered on Camping
Recruiting Participants from August to December, Applications Accepted from Various Groups Such as Classes or Student Councils
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced the operation of the ‘Camping With School’ program that visits schools.
‘Camping With School’ is a program designed for adolescents who had limited opportunities for communication due to the spread of COVID-19. Through community activities themed around camping, participants can form close peer relationships and relieve stress. This program was selected as a 2023 resident participation budget project and is being implemented at the Doksan Youth Culture House.
The activities include ▲ understanding others ▲ community activities ▲ recreation ▲ camping experiences, and can be held in school auditoriums, playgrounds, or the sunken plaza of the Doksan Youth Culture House.
The program is available to elementary, middle, and high schools located in Geumcheon-gu, with options for either a 3-hour or 6-hour daily course. Applications can be made by various groups such as classes, student councils, or clubs.
Currently, participants for the second half of the year (August to December) are being recruited. Interested schools can apply through the Doksan Youth Culture House or the Geumcheon-gu Department of Children and Adolescents.
Since 2021, the Doksan Youth Culture House has continuously operated specialized projects themed around camping using both indoor and outdoor facilities. Last year, 329 adolescents participated in leisure activity programs with a camping theme, which helped them relieve stress.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “I hope that adolescents participating in Camping With School will build friendships and relieve stress,” and added, “We will continue to actively support adolescents so they can enjoy communicating with their friends.”
