"Let's Create a Clean Public Service Like Ulleungdo!" ... Ulleung-gun Strives to Improve Integrity

Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk held an anti-corruption and integrity practice resolution meeting for eup and myeon on the 8th.

This event was organized to establish a culture of integrity awareness and spread integrity culture within the public office community of eup and myeon offices, following the Ulleung-gun Integrity Resolution Meeting held in April.

Namhan-gun County Governor (fifth from the right) is touring the town and township offices, pledging to practice anti-corruption and integrity.

The staff wore sashes with integrity slogans, read the integrity practice resolution statement, chanted integrity slogans, and signed the resolution to form a consensus on integrity and reaffirm their commitment to practicing integrity.

In particular, the county is planning various policies to practice a clean and honest Ulleung. The Planning and Audit Office chief was appointed as the head of the task force to form an anti-corruption and integrity promotion team to prepare practical measures, and outstanding administrative officials will be selected in the first and second half of the year to provide incentives. In addition, continuous resolution meetings will be held for senior public officials.

As part of the visiting Integrity Sinmungo, an Integrity Suggestion Box (for reporting improprieties) is operated, and surveys are conducted targeting internal staff to promote integrity awareness and commitment among all public officials.

Efforts are also being made to practice integrity, such as discovering integrity policies by department, ongoing self-study on integrity, and distributing notices about the Anti-Graft Act to civil petitioners. In 2022, contract cost reviews and routine audits were conducted to ensure the appropriateness and legality of projects, saving 3.6 billion KRW in budget and contributing to financial savings.

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, said, “We will spare no effort to realize a clean and honest Ulleung like the pristine Ulleung Island.”
