Shin Hwarang, a master's student in the Department of Convergence Bionics Engineering for the 4th Industrial Revolution at the Graduate School of Pukyong National University, received the Excellent Poster Award at the 30th Conference on Optoelectronics and Optical Communications (COOC 2023).
Shin Hwarang was awarded for the paper titled "Selective photothermal treatment with non-ablative laser for stress urinary incontinence" presented at the conference.
This paper presented research results on a selective photothermal treatment method for stress urinary incontinence using a non-ablative laser, receiving high evaluation.
Shin Hwarang, Master's student in the Department of 4th Industrial Convergence Bionics Engineering, Graduate School, Pukyong National University.
In this study, Shin Hwarang conducted research by irradiating a laser into pig urethral tissue using a diffusing optical fiber capable of 360-degree light delivery.
He confirmed the possibility of laser treatment for stress urinary incontinence through changes in muscle and collagen formation in the pig urethral tissue irradiated by the laser, and included these findings in the paper.
The 30th Conference on Optoelectronics and Optical Communications was recently held at Hanwha Resort Haeundae, jointly hosted by the Photonics Division of the Korean Optical Society, the Optical Communications Research Group of the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, the Optical Wave and Quantum Electronics Research Group of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, and the Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Wave Research Group of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.
