One Day Off for Hospital Visit
Yongsan-gu Mayor Released on Bail by Court Decision
Park Hee-young, the Yongsan District Mayor who was arrested on charges of inadequate response to the Itaewon disaster and later released on bail, took a day off using annual leave just one day after returning to work.
According to Yongsan District on the 9th, Mayor Park used annual leave for personal reasons and did not come to work that day.

It is known that Mayor Park took the day off to receive medical treatment. It has not been disclosed whether he will return to work starting next week.
Mayor Park was released on bail by a court decision on the 7th. He came to the office the next day, the 8th, reportedly arriving early in the morning to avoid protests from the Itaewon disaster victims' families.
The families of the Itaewon disaster victims visited his office that day to request a meeting, but Mayor Park did not respond and did not issue any further statements.
The families continued their one-person protest in front of Yongsan District Office on the 9th. They are demanding Mayor Park’s resignation, claiming he has lost his qualifications as a public official.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Western District Court, which is handling the trial related to the Itaewon disaster, approved Mayor Park’s bail request on the 7th. The released Mayor Park’s residence is restricted to his home in Yongsan District, but commuting to and from the district office is permitted.
It is reported that when Mayor Park came to work the previous day, he received reports on district affairs and familiarized himself with the work.
