To respond to the government's pilot project for non-face-to-face medical consultations implemented from this month, the Korea Digital Health Industry Association (Chairman Song Jae-ho, hereinafter referred to as KDHA) is forming a Non-Face-to-Face Medical Consultation Task Force (TF) and will appoint Kim Sung-hyun, CEO of BlueAnt, as the head of the TF on the 14th.
KDHA's Non-Face-to-Face Medical Consultation TF will be composed mainly of association member companies currently engaged in non-face-to-face medical consultation businesses or possessing related platform technologies.
There are about 10 related member companies within KDHA, including BlueAnt, CareLabs, Lulumedic, JLK, LifeSemantic, and Evidnet, which have launched and are operating non-face-to-face medical consultation services.
The chairman company KT is also conducting non-face-to-face care business overseas, and member companies such as LG Uplus, Lemon Healthcare, Neofect, Vuno, HurayPositive, HealthMax, Neurofit, and MirabelSoft also possess related technological capabilities.
KDHA plans to hold an executive committee meeting on the 14th to form and launch the Non-Face-to-Face Medical Consultation TF under the executive committee. Kim Sung-hyun, CEO of BlueAnt and a director of the association, is scheduled to be appointed as the head of the TF. BlueAnt currently operates the non-face-to-face medical consultation platform Olacare.
CEO Kim Sung-hyun stated, “The significance of the pilot project lies in securing time to respond rationally and flexibly to legislation while receiving feedback from the government, medical community, industry, and patients/consumers,” adding, “Through the Non-Face-to-Face Medical Consultation TF, we will gather participation and opinions from various platform companies within the association to achieve the purpose and intent of the pilot project.”
Prior to this, on the 30th of last month, KDHA issued a statement proposing to the government to cooperate to ensure the successful execution of the government's pilot project for non-face-to-face medical consultations and to establish industry-level self-regulation standards.
Baek Min-cheol, Secretary General of KDHA, said, “We agree with the government's policy to periodically evaluate the pilot project's outcomes through discussions with the medical community and experts and to supplement and develop it,” and added, “The association has recommended to the health authorities to actively participate in government consultations through the Non-Face-to-Face Medical Consultation TF.”
