The nonprofit organization ‘Cheongnarae,’ which has been practicing the sharing movement, donated 500 safety bag covers to students in grades 1 to 3 at Daegu Dongseong Elementary School to prevent traffic accidents on their way to and from school.
Since 2010, Cheongnarae has been practicing sharing to improve youth welfare. With awareness of school zone accidents occurring in our society, they donated 500 fluorescent yellow bag covers to help Dongseong Elementary students commute more safely.
Students of Daegu Dongseong Elementary School are going to school carrying bags with fluorescent safety covers donated by Cheongnarae.
Wearing highly visible fluorescent bag covers makes it easier for drivers to notice younger students with smaller builds on their way to and from school, reducing the risk of traffic accidents. Additionally, students can become more aware of accident prevention and safety rules by seeing their friends’ bags.
Hwang Yeram, a student at Dongseong Elementary, said, “When I put the bag cover on and came to school, it felt like someone was watching over me from behind. I want to keep putting the cover on every day when I come to school.”
Lee Okhee, principal of Dongseong Elementary School, said, “With the meaningful support of the local community to protect students’ safety, we will continue to create a school where students can grow up safely and healthily.”
