Daejeon 'Jeongnimjung~Sajeonggyo' Road Construction 추진..."Target Completion in 2027"

Daejeon City is promoting the construction of a road to alleviate traffic congestion in the section from Jeongnim Middle School in Seo-gu to Sajunggyo in Jung-gu.

On the 9th, Daejeon City announced that it requested the Public Procurement Service last month to contract the road construction work for this section.

The construction aims to connect Jeongnim-dong and Sajung-dong via the shortest route to disperse traffic on National Road No. 4, Gyebaek-ro (Gwanjeo-dong to Seodaejeon Intersection), and to form an outer ring road network around downtown Daejeon to minimize traffic congestion.

This project, with a total budget of 101 billion KRW, involves installing a 980m tunnel under Hyojabong from Jeongnim Middle School to Anyoung Soccer Stadium, and connecting the tunnel to a 270m bridge and Sajunggyo by road.

Daejeon City expects that once the road section from Jeongnim Middle School to Sajunggyo is completed, it will alleviate traffic inconvenience, secure a downtown bypass road, and reduce logistics costs.

To this end, Daejeon City completed the basic and detailed designs in December 2021 and has been proceeding with compensation procedures such as appraisal after announcing compensation in March.

Also, in April, the total project cost was negotiated with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and on the 22nd of last month, the construction contract was requested from the Public Procurement Service.

Daejeon City plans to start road construction in the second half of this year after the contract and aims to complete it by September 2027.

Park Je-hwa, Head of the Construction Management Headquarters of Daejeon City, said, “The connecting road between Jeongnim Middle School and Sajunggyo is being promoted as part of the Daejeon ring road network construction project,” and added, “Once the connecting road is opened, it is expected to disperse traffic and resolve congestion in the area.”
