Kyowon Group announced on the 9th that on the 7th, 20 employees participated in a volunteer activity to create classroom forests in elementary schools.
Since 2022, Kyowon Group has been carrying out the "Classroom Forest Creation Project" to provide students with safe and healthy learning spaces. This social contribution activity involves providing companion plants to elementary school classrooms and delivering environmental education to raise proper awareness of environmental issues and the importance of environmental conservation.
This year, the classroom forest was created at Sanggok Elementary School located in Nowon-gu, Seoul. The "Inyeon Sarang Volunteer Group," consisting of 20 Kyowon Group employees, visited and transplanted air-purifying plants such as Areca palm, Lucky bamboo, and the endangered plant Alocasia macrorrhizos into pots. The pots were distributed to all classes at Sanggok Elementary School. They also attended environmental education sessions to understand the importance of endangered plants and environmental protection.
Kyowon Group has created classroom forests in four schools to date, including last year. In August last year, funds were raised through the donation-linked campaign "Plogging Challenge," which involved voluntary participation from employees and customers, and classroom forests were established at Nammyung Elementary School in Seoul, Geukrak Elementary School in Gwangju, and Jangjeon Elementary School in Busan. Within this month, the project plans to continue by creating classroom forests at two elementary schools in Gangneung, which recently suffered from wildfire damage.
A Kyowon Group official said, "It was especially meaningful to create classroom forests together with employees this year," adding, "We will continue valuable social contribution activities in the fields of environment and education to build a sustainable future with future generations."
