Gominjeong, a senior member of the Democratic Party of Korea who became a hot topic after submitting a 'blank protest letter' in front of the Yongsan Presidential Office building opposing the separate collection of KBS license fees, said it was a "mistake" but also added, "On the other hand, I thought it might have been a good thing."
On the 9th, Gominjeong said on SBS's 'Kim Taehyun's Political Show,' "I did feel a bit of regret, wondering why I couldn't handle it properly."
It is known that on the 7th, she visited the Yongsan Presidential Office to protest and delivered an envelope containing a letter opposing the separate collection of KBS license fees, but the envelope only contained two blank sheets of paper.
Gominjeong said, "But on the other hand, I thought, 'Isn't this a good thing?' Because it was the first time the Presidential Office responded," adding, "Until now, I have done one-person protests in front of the Presidential Office and large-scale condemnations, but the Presidential Office never responded with anything like 'We have seen it well,' 'We will review it,' or 'We oppose this.'"
She continued, "That day, I read the condemnation statement as it was, and I should have included that content, but I guess I didn't. However, if about 10 articles came out about the condemnation statement, when I put in the blank sheets, about 30, 50, three to five times more articles appeared," adding, "Anyway, the Presidential Office is responding. So, I thought that we need to keep thinking about new ways to approach the administration, moving away from old methods. It's a bit ironic, but that's how it is."
Regarding the resignation of Innovation Committee Chairperson Iraegyeong and the controversy inside and outside the party over Leader Lee Jae-myung's statement that he would "take unlimited responsibility," she rather questioned, "What form of action would be understood as taking responsibility?"
Regarding the calls for a transition to a non-standing committee and resignation led mainly by the non-Myung (非明) faction, she said, "The leader has already said that he would give a lot of authority to the Innovation Committee. Even if it does not take the form of a non-standing committee, that doesn't seem to be a valid reason," adding, "And those who demand Leader Lee's resignation have done so repeatedly. Then, we also need to think about what the alternative would be after that."
